Esta postagem traz um diálogo para você treinar a Língua Inglesa. O contexto é o seguinte: você está cansado da sua rotina, do seu apartamento, da mesma vista de sempre e, do nada, decide mudar completamente de vida. Não só mudar de bairro, de cidade, mas mudar o jeito de viver. Foi exatamente isso que a Emily fez.
Neste diálogo, você vai acompanhar uma conversa leve, cheia de expressões do Inglês do dia a dia, entre dois amigos e, de quebra (as a bonus!), ainda vai aprender vocabulário real, aquele que realmente aparece em conversas de verdade. É uma conversa escrita no nível B1 do CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, o Quadro Europeu Comum de Referência para Línguas).

Uma grande mudança de vida
Emily: Hey Jake! (Oi, Jake!)
Jake: Hey Emily! Damn, look at you, girl… you’re glowing! What’s your secret? Come on, spill! (Oi, Emily! Caramba, olha você, menina… você está radiante! Qual é o seu segredo? Vai, conta!)
Emily: No secrets here, sorry to disappoint. I’m just feeling really good these days. Actually… I made a pretty big change in my life. (Nada de segredo aqui, desculpa decepcionar. Eu só estou me sentindo muito bem ultimamente. Na verdade… eu fiz uma mudança bem grande na minha vida.)
Jake: Oh boy, here we go again. Every time I see you, you’ve got some wild new plan. Alright, hit me… what is it this time? (Meu Deus, lá vamos nós de novo. Toda vez que eu te vejo, você vem com algum plano maluco novo. Tá bom, manda… o que foi dessa vez?)
Emily: Okay, don’t freak out, but I couldn’t stand my apartment anymore. It was driving me absolutely nuts. No fresh air, barely any sunlight… and that view? Just a bunch of gray buildings staring back at me. It felt so damn depressing. (Ok, não surta, mas eu não aguentava mais o meu apartamento. Estava me deixando completamente maluca. Sem ar fresco, quase nenhuma luz do sol… e aquela vista? Só um monte de prédios cinzas olhando de volta pra mim. Era deprimente demais.)
Jake: Seriously? I thought your place was pretty sweet: small, yeah, but cozy, modern, all that. You’re being a little harsh, don’t you think? (Sério? Eu achava o seu lugar bem legal: pequeno, sim, mas aconchegante, moderno, tudo isso. Você não está sendo um pouco dura demais, não acha?)
Emily: Yeah, yeah, I know. First-world problems, right? I mean, it wasn’t that bad. But still… I just felt stuck, you know? Like I needed a change, something different, something exciting. (É, eu sei. Problemas de primeiro mundo, né? Quer dizer, não era tão ruim assim. Mas mesmo assim… eu me sentia presa, sabe? Como se eu precisasse de uma mudança, algo diferente, algo empolgante.)
Jake: Uh-oh… that tone right there? That’s the “I did something crazy” tone. What did you do? (Ih lascou… esse tom aí? É o tom de “eu fiz uma maluquice”. O que você fez?)
Emily: So… I was scrolling online one night, just killing time, and I stumbled on this listing for a small boat. Fully equipped, pretty new, looked amazing. At first I was like, “No way, that’s insane.” But then I couldn’t stop thinking about it. (Então… eu estava rolando a internet uma noite, só matando o tempo, e dei de cara com um anúncio de um barco pequeno. Totalmente equipado, bem novo, parecia incrível. No começo eu pensei: “Nem pensar, isso é loucura.” Mas depois eu não conseguia parar de pensar nisso.)
Jake: Of course you couldn’t. You never just look at things… you go all in. (Claro que não conseguiu. Você nunca só olha as coisas… você mergulha de cabeça.)
Emily: Guilty. Anyway, I reached out to the owner, we met up, and honestly? We clicked right away. Super chill, super nice. She showed me the boat… and man, the second I stepped on it, I was like, “Yep. This is it.” Total love at first sight. (Confesso. Enfim, eu entrei em contato com a dona, a gente se encontrou, e sinceramente? A gente se deu bem na hora. Super tranquila, super gente boa. Ela me mostrou o barco… e cara, no segundo em que eu pisei nele, eu pensei: “É isso.” Amor à primeira vista total.)
Jake: Wait… don’t tell me… (Espera… não me diga…)
Emily: Oh, I’m telling you. I bought it. And now… I live on a boat. (Ah, eu vou te contar sim. Eu comprei. E agora… eu moro em um barco.)
Jake: No freaking way. You’re kidding. You actually did it? That’s insane… in a good way, but still… kind of nuts. (Não acredito. Você está brincando. Você fez isso mesmo? Isso é loucura… de um jeito bom, mas ainda assim… meio maluco.)
Emily: I know! It sounds crazy, but it feels so right. Honestly, I’ve never felt this free before. (Eu sei! Parece loucura, mas é tão certo. Sinceramente, eu nunca me senti tão livre antes.)
Jake: Alright, I need details. What’s it like? Are you, like, sleeping in a tiny box or what? (Tá bom, eu preciso de detalhes. Como é isso? Você está dormindo tipo numa caixinha minúscula ou o quê?)
Emily: Not at all! It’s actually super comfortable. I’ve got a real kitchen, like, I can cook proper meals, not just microwave junk. There’s a toilet, a shower… I mean, okay, no hot water yet, which kinda sucks, but it’s getting fixed soon. (De jeito nenhum! Na verdade é super confortável. Eu tenho uma cozinha de verdade, tipo, posso cozinhar comida de verdade, não só porcaria de micro-ondas. Tem banheiro, chuveiro… quer dizer, ok, ainda não tem água quente, o que é meio ruim, mas já vai ser consertado.)
Jake: Cold showers? Damn, you’re hardcore. (Banho frio? Caramba, você é raiz.)
Emily: Yeah, it wakes you up real quick, I’ll tell you that. But honestly, it’s worth it. Oh, and there are two cabins, so I can have people over. You’re not getting out of this… you’re so visiting. (É, te acorda bem rápido, pode acreditar. Mas sinceramente, vale a pena. Ah, e tem duas cabines, então posso receber gente. Você não vai escapar… você vai me visitar sim.)
Jake: I might take you up on that. But be honest… isn’t it cramped? (Acho que vou aceitar esse convite. Mas seja sincera… não é apertado?)
Emily: Well, yeah, space is tight, no sugarcoating it. I had to get rid of a ton of stuff. Now I only keep what I actually need. And everything has to be in its place, or it turns into chaos real fast. (Bom, é, o espaço é apertado, sem enrolação. Tive que me livrar de um monte de coisas. Agora eu só fico com o que realmente preciso. E tudo tem que estar no lugar, senão vira bagunça rapidinho.)
Jake: Sounds like forced minimalism. Not a bad thing, though. (Parece minimalismo forçado. Mas não é algo ruim.)
Emily: Exactly. And the best part? If I get bored of the view, or the people around me, I can just move. Like, literally. I can wake up and decide, “Nah, I’m done with this spot,” and just sail somewhere else. Try doing that with an apartment. (Exatamente. E a melhor parte? Se eu me cansar da vista, ou das pessoas ao meu redor, eu posso simplesmente mudar. Tipo, literalmente. Posso acordar e decidir: “Não, já deu desse lugar”, e simplesmente navegar pra outro. Tenta fazer isso com um apartamento.)
Jake: Okay, I’ll give you that, that’s pretty badass. So what about work? Did you just quit everything and go full pirate mode? (Ok, essa eu te dou, isso é bem incrível. E o trabalho? Você largou tudo e virou pirata?)
Emily: Not quite. I still have my job. From the marina, it’s about a 30-minute walk to the office. Before, it was 25, so honestly, not a big deal. (Não exatamente. Eu ainda tenho meu trabalho. Da marina, dá uns 30 minutos andando até o escritório. Antes eram 25, então sinceramente, não faz muita diferença.)
Jake: Huh. That’s surprisingly normal. I expected a bigger life disruption. (Olha só. Isso é surpreendentemente normal. Eu esperava uma mudança maior na sua vida.)
Emily: Yeah, same here. But that’s what’s cool, it feels like a huge change, but day-to-day life isn’t that different. Just… better. (É, eu também. Mas isso que é legal, parece uma mudança enorme, mas o dia a dia não é tão diferente assim. Só que… melhor.)
Jake: Alright, last question… and be honest. Do you actually know how to handle a boat, or are you just winging it and hoping for the best? (Tá bom, última pergunta… e seja sincera. Você realmente sabe pilotar um barco ou está só improvisando e torcendo pelo melhor?)
Emily: Wow, rude. Of course I know how! I learned a few years ago, remember? I’m not out there crashing into docks like an idiot. (Nossa, que grosso. Claro que sei! Eu aprendi há alguns anos, lembra? Não fico por aí batendo nos píeres que nem uma idiota.)
Jake: Hey, I had to ask. (Ei, eu tinha que perguntar.)
Emily: Fair enough. But yeah, I’ve got it under control. On weekends, I go out to sea, just cruise around, no schedule, no stress… it’s freaking amazing. That feeling of freedom? You can’t beat it. (Justo. Mas sim, está tudo sob controle. Nos fins de semana, eu saio pro mar, só passeio por aí, sem horário, sem estresse… é incrível demais. Aquela sensação de liberdade? Não tem igual.)
Jake: Alright, you’re starting to sell me on this. (Tá bom, você está começando a me convencer.)
Emily: Good… because you’re coming with me one of these weekends. When the weather’s nice, we’ll head out, maybe catch the sunset… it’ll be awesome. (Ótimo… porque você vai comigo em um desses fins de semana. Quando o tempo estiver bom, a gente sai, talvez veja o pôr do sol… vai ser incrível.)
Jake: I’m in… as long as I don’t end up puking over the side. (Tô dentro… desde que eu não acabe vomitando pra fora do barco.)
Emily: Yeah, that would kinda ruin the vibe. You don’t get seasick, do you? (É, isso ia estragar um pouco o clima. Você não fica enjoado no mar, né?)
Jake: We’re just going to have to find out! (A gente vai ter que descobrir!)
