ONE
Amanda: Hi, I'm here to check in. My name is Amanda Hart.
Ricardo: Welcome, Mrs. Hart. I'm afraid there's a problem with your room. It isn't ready yet because we need to fix something in the bathroom
Amanda: That’s not good. I have all my bags here, and I have an appointment in two hours.
Ricardo: I’m sure we can solve this issue by then. But for now, how about a complimentary lunch at our restaurant? We can keep your bags here safely while you wait.
Amanda: OK, that's fine. Thank you.
TWO
Ajay: Hey Sarah, we have a VIP guest arriving tomorrow, Mr. Chase.
Sarah: Not the singer, Ash Chase?!
Ajay: Hum, yes, that’s him. He’s a regular guest at our hotel.
Sarah: No way!
Ajay: The problem is that his usual room, 301, isn't available.
Sarah: The best solution might be to give him room 401 then. It's bigger and has a better view.
Ajay: Good idea, let’s do that. Can you also tell room service that he wants breakfast at 7 AM?
Sarah: Sure, I'll do it right now. Can I be here when he checks in?
Ajay: If you promise to behave!
THREE
Mr. Flores: I’m sorry to bother you, but I need some assistance. I have to leave today because my father is in the hospital.
Olivia: I’m very sorry to hear that, Mr. Flores. Of course, no problem at all, allow me to take care of everything for you. You were staying until Sunday, right?
Mr. Flores: Yes, for three more nights. Can I get a refund?
Olivia: I’ll look into it right away, but I don’t see it being a problem. Can I also help you get a taxi to the airport right now?
Mr. Flores: In about an hour, if possible. I still have to pack.
Olivia: Of course, I’ll have everything for you when you come down.
FOUR
Tom: We seem to have an issue with overbooking later today. The hotel is full until tomorrow, but there are two more guests coming tonight. Any ideas?
Amy: One option would be to put them at Hotel Central. They usually have free rooms and it’s not far from here.
Tom: What about the guests? What do we tell them?
Amy: Why don’t we offer them a free taxi to Hotel Central? Then we can pay for their breakfast tomorrow when they come back.
Tom: OK, that should work. Can you give Hotel Central a ring then?
FIVE
Isabella: Josh, something’s wrong with this booking for room 205. The guest uses a wheelchair, and that room isn't accessible for wheelchair users.
Josh: Oh no! Why didn't we know about this?
Isabella: The travel agent didn't tell us before. Is there anything we can do about it?
Josh: Let me think … Let's move them to room 110. It has a bigger bathroom and no steps.
Isabella: Good idea. I'll make the change right now. Can I offer them a free coffee while they’re waiting?
Josh: Of course.
SIX
Charlotte: I'm very sorry, sir, but there seems to be a problem with your credit card. It isn't working.
Mateo: Really? But I just used it in the restaurant!
Charlotte: I’d be happy to try with another card? Or maybe you can pay in cash?
Mateo: Let me check my other card... Oh, wait. I think I know what happened. This card is maxed out.
Charlotte: That’s absolutely fine. Let me know how you would prefer to proceed.
