In this updated lesson, students learn how to talk about their plans for the future. First, they talk about their plans for next week, then listen to a conversation with two people making plans. They then look at be going to for plans, as well as phrases for making arrangements. They also listen to someone describing their next week. Then they use all the language in two speaking tasks. Enrique: Hey, what are you doing to do next week?
Josh: Let me see… I’m not going to have any classes at university, so I’m free most of the week. Why?
Enrique: I’m going to visit Comic Con. Do you want to come with me?
Josh: That sounds fun! When is it?
Enrique: It’s going to be over three days next week, from Tuesday to Thursday. I’m going on Tuesday, I think.
Josh: OK… oh, wait. My parents and I are going to visit my grandmother on Tuesday. It’s her birthday. I can go on Wednesday…
Enrique: I’m afraid I can’t. Aisha and I are going to do some furniture shopping on Wednesday. How about Thursday?
Josh: I can do Thursday.
Enrique: Sounds good!
Josh: Are you going to wear a costume?
Enrique: Of course! I’m going to dress as Jack Sparrow!
Josh: Nice! I think I’m going to be Superman then!
Audio 2 - Activity 7
Amanda: I'm going to be very busy next week. On Monday, I’m going to meet with my best friend Anna. She’s going to get married, so we’re going to have lunch and plan the wedding! Then on Tuesday, my husband and I are going to go shopping. We are going to buy a new fridge, because ours is very old! I have an exam at my university on Thursday, so I’m going to study for that on Wednesday. Then on Friday, I’m going to spend the day at the office. I’m going to have lots of meetings with clients. My parents are going to fly over to spend the weekend with me. I think I’m going to show them my favorite places in town on Saturday, then go with them to the beach on Sunday.
