In this lesson, students develop their conversational skills by talking about everyday routines. First, the students review the days of the week to engage with the topic. Then, using a picture story, they identify different routines before matching them to the correct phrase. The students then practice and personalize the language in a variety of communicative and student-centered activities. They then focus on a small number of adverbs of frequency before completing tasks which focus on meaning and word order. They then consolidate all the language by planning and taking part in a speaking mingle task to find out about their classmates’ routines. The final activity includes supportive stages to enable the students to successfully achieve the task. (by Victoria Aitken)
