AUDIO/VIDEO TRANSCRIPTS
Audio 1 (Exercise 2)
Speaker: In the school canteen, we sit with our trays, I see Theo smile – homemade juice and a sandwich today.
I watch Iris grin, she gives a little shake – a hamburger for lunch and a homemade milkshake.
I hear Victor laugh as the spoons go clink – a hot dog on his plate and lemonade to drink.
We eat side by side; it all tastes great – kebabs and water too, on our plates!
Audio 2 / Video (Exercise 3)
Narrator: It is a busy day in town. We can hear cars far away and fast footsteps.
Theo says, “Come on! We are here. This is the new café.” Victor looks at the sign. “The menu is fantastic!” he says.
Iris smiles. “Yes! It has my favorites.” Theo nods. “And my favorite. I love chicken kebabs.” Inside, we hear people talking and chairs moving.
Mom says, “Can you look at the menu, please?” “OK,” say Iris, Theo, and Victor. Iris points. “There are kebabs! I love fish kebabs.” Victor smiles. “Mmm! I like meat kebabs. They are delicious.”
Theo says, “I love chicken kebabs!” Victor and Iris laugh. “We know!” The waiter comes with a notepad. “So, Iris,” he says, “your order is a fish kebab and an apple juice.” “Yes! That’s right,” says Iris.
“Can I have your order, Victor?” asks the waiter. “Yes,” says Victor. “A meat kebab and a soft drink, please.” “OK. And Theo?” says the waiter. Theo smiles. “Can I have a chicken kebab and water, please?”
The waiter looks at the kitchen, then back. “Just a moment... I’m sorry. We don’t have chicken kebabs.” “Oh no!” says Theo. “Look over there,” says the waiter. “We have fish or meat kebabs.” Theo turns to Mom. “Mom! I don’t like fish kebabs.” Mom is kind. “What about a meat kebab? Victor likes meat kebabs.”
Theo thinks for a second. “Erm... Can I have a meat kebab and water, please?” “Thank you,” says the waiter. Soon, the food arrives. The café sounds happy with clinks and chatter. “Mine is delicious,” says Iris. “This is perfect,” says Victor. Theo takes a small bite. “OK. Here I go... Erm... Wow! Meat kebabs are delicious!”
The waiter comes back. “Would you like any desserts?” “Yes, please,” says Iris. “A fruit kebab for me.” “And a chocolate milkshake for me, please,” says Victor. “And Theo?” asks the waiter.
Theo smiles: “I have an idea.” Iris giggles. “Do you like meat kebabs?” “Yes, I do,” says Theo. Victor giggles too. “Theo loves meat kebabs!”
