Speaker: What were the coaches like on old trains? There used to be compartments and each one had six seats, a window and its own door to the platform. It didn’t use to be one big space as it is today.
How did passengers use to open and close the doors? They used to open and close the doors to the compartments themselves when they needed to get on or off the train. The conductor didn’t use to control the doors for the whole train, as they do now.
Did the trains use to get very hot in summer? Yes, they did. Passengers used to open the windows to let air in and then the windows didn’t use to close properly.
