With its global sales doubling in recent years, the retro gadget has shown it has staying power even in today’s techcentric world. Were you to visit Camden, North London, you might be forgiven for thinking you’d stepped back in time. This is the location chosen by the brand for the first-ever UK Tamagotchi store. This new location blends nostalgia with modern innovations, offering interactive displays, limited-edition models, and exclusive merchandise. The store even hosts fan meetups and workshops on caring for your digital pet.
While the classic egg-shaped design remains familiar, the new Tamagotchis come with exciting features like color screens, Wi-Fi connectivity, and mobile app integration, allowing users to connect with friends and download new items. Limited-edition collaborations, such as Pokémon-themed versions, further fuel this resurgence. With plans to release augmented reality and multiplayer modes, the Tamagotchi continues to evolve. At least part of its enduring appeal lies in its ability to tap into a sense of sentimentality.
