In this lesson, students develop their conversational skills by describing a long walk. To personalize and engage with the topic, the students answer some general questions about walking. They then identify key locations while reading a picture story about a walk. Using the story, the students label different prepositions of movement and practice the language in a variety of student-centered speaking games and tasks. They then practice and consolidate the language in a group storytelling task. The lesson finishes with a speaking game to review the lesson content. (by Victoria Aitken)

AUDIO TRANSCRIPT

Speaker: It was a beautiful day, so Lisa decided to go for a walk. She walked out of her apartment, down the stairs, onto the street, along the road, past the market, under the bridge, up the hill, through the park and into a cafe for a nice cold drink.
