AUDIO TRANSCRIPTS

Audio 1
Assistant manager: Okay, let’s get started – I don't have much time today. Nice to meet you and all that. I’m the assistant manager here. Obviously, I have a few questions for you.
Candidate: Of course.
Assistant manager: Let’s talk about your last job. What were your responsibilities?
Candidate: In my previous position, I was responsible for answering the phone, dealing with customers and organizing the director’s meetings.
Assistant manager: OK. So, why did you quit?
Candidate: I resigned because, after five years in the same company, I felt I was ready for a new challenge.
Assistant manager: Hmm. What reason do you have for wanting to work here, then?
Candidate: I guess it’s mainly because this is a larger company and you’re known all over the world.
Assistant manager: And what are your weaknesses?
Candidate: Well, I am a bit of a perfectionist, which can sometimes be a problem. I’m working on it though!
Assistant manager: OK. Can you start next week?
Candidate: Next week? That’s so soon! There are a few things I’d have to confirm, so I’ll get back to you on that as soon as I can.

Audio 2
Assistant manager: Okay, thanks so much for coming in today. We’ve been looking forward to meeting you. I’m Rob – the assistant manager. We’re going to start by asking you a few standard questions. Are you ready?
Candidate: Of course.
Assistant manager: First of all, let’s talk about your last job. Can you tell me what your responsibilities were?
Candidate: In my former post, I was responsible for answering the phone, dealing with customers and organizing the director’s meetings.
Assistant manager: I see. So, I wonder why you quit.
Candidate: I handed in my resignation because, after five years in the same company, I felt I was ready for a new challenge.
Assistant manager: That makes sense. Next, I’d like to know what reason you have for wanting to work here.
Candidate: I guess it’s mainly because this is a larger company and you’re known all over the world.
Assistant manager: Very true. Could you say what your weaknesses are?
Candidate: Well, I am a bit of a perfectionist, which can sometimes be a problem. It’s still a work in progress, I guess.
Assistant manager: I understand. So, do you know whether you can start next week?
Candidate: Next week? That’s so soon! There are a few things I’d have to confirm, so I’ll get back to you on that as soon as I can.
