Activity 4
Speaker: Like with most things the Internet has completely revolutionized the way that we bank. The vast majority of traditional banks offer almost all services online while digital banks that have been set up in the last 20 years are operated entirely online.
If you want to open a new checking account, many traditional banks still require you to go into the actual branch as you might need to provide various types of identification. However, once you have set up your account you are usually able to do your banking online.
Things like checking an overdraft, checking your balance, transferring money, and setting up a direct payment can usually be done with a couple of clicks on your laptop or smartphone.
Some other functions that require a higher level of approval from the bank may require you to go into an actual bank. These include- getting approval for a loan or mortgage with the relevant interest rate or withdrawing a large amount of cash.
