Students learn the structure going to + infinitive for talking about the future. The lesson plan includes a listening and motivating role play activity.
In this lesson, students learn how to talk about their plans for the future. First, they talk about their plans for next week, then listen to a conversation with two people making plans. They then look at be going to for plans, as well as phrases for making arrangements. They also listen to someone describing their next week. Then they use all the language in two speaking tasks. AUDIO TRANSCRIPT
Ben: So, what are your plans for next week?
Claire: Well, next week I’m going to be very busy. On Monday I’m going to have lunch with my friend, Julie. Then, later in the evening we’re going to the movies.
Ben: What about Tuesday?
Claire: On Tuesday I’m going to get my cousin from the airport. Right now she lives in France, but she’s coming to visit me for a few days. We’re going to go sightseeing together.
Ben: Are you going to be free on Wednesday?
Claire: Actually, I’m also going to be busy on Wednesday. It’s my mother’s birthday. But on Thursday I’m free after work.
Ben: Great. Do you want to go for out for dinner? There’s a new Italian restaurant in town. My friends say it’s very good.
Claire: That sounds nice, let’s go.
