In this lesson, students develop their conversational skills by learning how to make and respond to polite requests. To engage with the topic the students start by reviewing some familiar words and phrases to sound polite. They then review a set of verbs before listening to a series of requests and matching them to the situation. The students then focus on expressions used for polite requests and practice pronunciation focusing on intonation patterns. They then categorize different responses before consolidating all the language from the lesson in a communicative task. There is an additional speaking task for further practice (by Victoria Aitken).
