AUDIO TRANSCRIPT

ONE
Speaker 1: Excuse me, where do I pay the bill?
Waiter: You can pay at the cashier, sir.
Speaker 1: OK, thanks.
Speaker 1: I’d like to settle the bill, please.
Waiter: Here is your bill. The service charge is not included. Would you like to add a tip?
Speaker 1: Yes, but first I’d like to check the bill.
Waiter: Of course.
Speaker 1: Everything is correct. We don’t need to split the bill, I’m paying for both of us.
Waiter: Very well. Would you like to add the tip to the card?
Speaker 1: Yes, please.
Waiter: Thank you. Here is your receipt.
Speaker 1: Thank you!

TWO
Speaker 2: Hi, we’d like to pay, please.
Waiter: Certainly. How would you like to pay?
Speaker 2: Can we split the bill?
Waiter: Sure. By person or by item?
Speaker 2: By item, please. Sorry, can you check this? I don’t think we ordered this drink.
Waiter: Sorry about that. Let me check… You’re right. I’ll remove it and bring the updated bill.
Speaker 2: Thanks. Is the service charge included?
Waiter: No, it isn’t.
Speaker 2: Can we get a receipt?
Waiter: Paper or email?
Speaker 2: Email, please.
Waiter: Of course.

THREE
Speaker 3: Could we have the bill, please?
Waiter: Of course. Here it is.
Speaker 3: Thanks. I’m a bit confused about tipping… Is it included?
Waiter: No, the tip is not included. The tip is optional.
Speaker 3: OK. And can we pay with two methods?
Waiter: Yes, that’s fine.
Speaker 3: Great. I’ll pay half in cash, and my friend will pay the other half by card.
Waiter: No problem. I can take the cash here, and then I’ll take your card to the card machine.
Speaker 3: Perfect, thank you.
Waiter: You’re welcome!

FOUR
Speaker 4: Hi, I’m in a hurry. I need to go to the airport soon. Can I pay now, before my meal?
Waiter: Of course. No problem. I can bring the bill now.
Speaker 4: Thanks. I’ll pay by card.
Waiter: I’m really sorry, but the card machine isn’t working at the moment.
Speaker 4: Oh… really?
Waiter: Yes, I’m afraid so. The total amount you’ll be charged is $18. You can still pay with cash.
Speaker 4: OK, I’ll pay with cash then.
Waiter: Thank you, and sorry again for the inconvenience.

FIVE
Speaker 5: Hi, could you bring the bill, please?
Waiter: Of course. One moment, please… Here you go.
Speaker 5: Sorry, I think there is a mistake. What is this extra appetizer? I didn’t order it.
Waiter: Oh, I’m really sorry about that. Let me check… Yes, you’re right. I apologize, that shouldn’t be on your bill. I’ll remove it.
Speaker 5: Thank you. And can I put the rest of the bill on my room?
Waiter: Yes, no problem. What’s your room number?
Speaker 5: Room 318. And can you print a company receipt as well? It’s for my business trip.
Waiter: Certainly. We can print the invoice.
Speaker 5: Great.
Waiter: Here is your company receipt, and I’m sorry again for the mistake.
