This is another lesson on the theme of the human brain. The previous lesson introduced the concept of intelligence. In this lesson, students get familiar with 8 types of intelligence (the ninth type introduced later by Gardner is not included) and then they do a quiz that presents the intelligences through examples. It allows them to discover which intelligence is their strength. The students learn phrases that describe skills (I can / I’m good at) and preferences (I enjoy) and study the verb forms which are used with them. They use the language in reading, speaking and writing. The ultimate aim of the lesson is for the students to identify their skills and to learn language to talk about them. (by I. Rybak)

AUDIO TRANSCRIPT

Harry: I love to play sports! I prefer playing sports to watching sports. Watching sports on television is boring. I enjoy playing tennis and riding a bike, but my favorite sport is swimming.
I’m not very good at science. I hate doing experiments at school, and I don’t like to take tests. I prefer when the teacher asks me questions. I think I can explain things well. I’m learning to make computer presentations.
I want to be a musician. I can play the drums and sing. I would like to play in a band. I’m planning to look for people who want to start a band.
