In this lesson, students develop their conversational skills by describing what people are doing in the context of everyday life. First, they look at a street scene and answer questions about what they can see. They then identify a set of verbs before listening to two people describing the picture and completing the sentences. There is a focus on the use of the present continuous tense and then the students practice the language in a range of student-centered tasks. The lesson finishes with a communicative task which involves the students describing and comparing pictures. There is a final game to review the language. (by Victoria Aitken)
